Today MAMM presents "Eye to eye. Stereophotos Stories "- an excellent opportunity to talk about the art that appears in the XIX century and has become a popular pastime for many people.

Stereo photography - this is the kind of photography, the foundation of which is to create the stereoscopic effect. It lies in the fact that two pictures taken from two angles, a man presented as a three-dimensional image. «Stereos» in Greek means "to surround, surround, solid." Stereo-photo enthusiasts attracted by the flat image that can now be seen in the volume. In addition, to create a stereoscopic nothing sophisticated required: stereoscopic camera, which, incidentally, was much easier than usual, film and stereo image viewer.

Stereo photography has appeared before pictures just to six years in 1833, but became popular much later, after a few decades. The study of stereo photography began in the III century BC: Euclid first described the process of human perception of objects in space, namely, that each eye sees "his" image at a certain angle, which makes the image volume. Then Leonardo da Vinci studied visual perception, and in 1611 a German optician Johannes Kepler formulated the theory of stereoscopic perception. In the XVII - XVIII century Italian artists used their knowledge of the stereoscopic effect, creating a pair of paintings.

Opening a stereoscope belongs to the English physicist Charles Wheatstone (Charles Wheatstone). In 1833 he demonstrated the device by means of which you can see a picture of the extent of the visibility he used his own drawings. Immediately photo as the material for the stereo was introduced only in 1851 at the World Exhibition in London, after which the popularity of stereo photography began to grow. This has contributed to the creation of a Scottish scientist David Brewster (David Brewster) devices with two lenses for shooting stereo. Photos were taken in a stereo pair of two points, arranged in a similar person's eyes; when viewing the "left" and "right" images were combined, and that created the illusion of three-dimensionality.

There is another way to create a stereo effect - anaglyph. This stereo pair, in which two images are combined into one block, but differ in color. Typically, the image is represented in red and blue-green colors. To view these stereo photographs need simple stereo glasses with red and green and blue filters. Unlike the stereoscopic pair, designed for one spectator, anaglyph photos can watch several people.

Today stereo used in the film industry in the form of 3D-technology. Three-dimensional technology, in turn, have been used in electrical engineering: 3D-TVs, 3D-camera, 3D-video, 3D-printers, etc. But the stereo-still retained its charm of the first three-dimensional images.
