Others believe that Mantegna wrote "St. George" in the early seventies, after a trip to Tuscany in 1466. There is no exact information about the first owners of the picture. It is known that it was bought in 1856 from the collection of Manfrina Austrian Emperor Franz Joseph and transferred to the Venetian Accademia Gallery, which houses the present day.
