Today at the Cultural Foundation "Ekaterina" in the program show large solo exhibitions of Russian artists open a project Shehovtsova «Short Cuts».

Sergei Shekhovtsov - one of the brightest representatives of the contemporary art scene. Member of more than a hundred exhibitions in Russia and abroad, including 26 Biennale in Sao Paulo (2004), the festival "Europalia 2005", the exhibitor of the Russian pavilion at the Venice Biennale (2009).

A new project in the Cultural Foundation "Ekaterina" - the first major exhibition in Moscow of the artist, as part of which will show more than 40 works of art - sculptures, objects and installations created by Sergei Shekhovtsov over the past ten years.

Shekhovtsov Sergei studied at the painter, but today it is - one of the most famous sculptors. As the basic materials he chose the most "soft" possible for sculpture materials - foam rubber and foam.

Solo exhibition of the artist is for any kind of test - tabulation of intermediate results, the reason for the analysis of their own creativity. The space showrooms fund was for Sergei Shehovtsova starting point in building a drama show, which can be designated as a gradual flow of the transition to a different genre - the transformation of sculpture or object in the installation.

title of the exhibition - "Short Cuts" - corresponds to the task of the artist, and the type of organization of the exhibition. The exhibition consists of works presented separately on different platforms, but in each case, virtually every installation has undergone and is undergoing formal, and hence the semantic transformation, according to remount and the place and time of the exhibition. Soft materials easily lend themselves to these transformations, or "Short Cuts" and their plasticity allows us not only to mix semantic accents, but also to transform the sculpture installation, and vice versa. Thus, both the plasticity of materials, and allow the talent of the author in almost every show it expand or collapse a particular job, according to the artist, and bring to the fore the dramatic organization of space as the main "tool". The exhibition is not so much the usual chronological alignment works, but rather an attempt to identify the main themes and motifs, accents, and design a formal space, and freedom of interpretation for each of the presented work.

«Short Cuts "- an exhibition of the time in the literal and figurative sense of the word, its variability, fluidity and constant mixing and shifting accents. Installing the "Tron", stuffed with cameras, in a different context and using the 'Short Cuts "could be interpreted as" an alien throne ", with a clear reference to the sci-fi film« Tron »; traveling to the" Throne "dog - like a scene from the life of animals in the backyard of the city suburbs, and the product of «Big Battle» - as the interior of the computer "shooter". But in the end, in the context of this exhibition, these works are transformed into a fairly rigid and somewhat pessimistic assessment of the reality around: the specifics of the life of the big city, the political climate of the country, anticipation of future disasters of the world ...

The exhibition will be presents the most famous works of the audience, such as "Metro", "ATM" installation "Cinema", "Tron" and «Big Battle», composition «Easy Rider», first shown at the Venice Biennale, as well as a number of new facilities and installations.
