Today night at the State Tretyakov Gallery opens an exhibition prepared together with the gallery "GOST". The exhibition contains works Valeria Kaptereva from the collection of the State Tretyakov Gallery and private collections.

Valery Gromov Kapterev (1900-1981) - painter and graphic artist, belongs to the artists of the so-called" third way "in the domestic arts of the XX century, which lies between the vanguard and socialist realism. A graduate of the Faculty of Art Workshops picturesque (Higher Art and Technical Studios, the former Stroganov School), V. Kapterev was a student, friend and colleague Alexander V. A . Shevchenko , an artist and art theorist. In 1919 he became one of the organizers of the famous exhibition "Tsvetodinamos and tectonic primitivism", the polices which were stated by Shevchenko: "Paint and color - ... the magic wand, which inspires the artist, giving him momentum and motivation to be creative." Color - the most expressive artistic tool in the works V. Kaptereva. Dar colorist may aroused his interest in the vibrant art and life of the East. While still in VKhUTEMAS, the artist made his first trip to Central Asia, which became for him a source of inspiration for many years. Subsequently, he repeatedly went there in the scientific and museum expeditions. In 1920 V. Kapterev was an active member and exhibitor associations: "Shop Painters", "Life", the Society of Moscow Artists. In 1949 he was expelled from the Moscow Union of Artists for "formalism" in art, and although in the late 1950s Kaptereva restored at the Artists Union, but the ban on his participation in exhibitions remained until his death. Almost all of the pre-war Kaptereva were lost, and many of his works from the Alma-Ata art museum destroyed in 1949 as harmful to the viewer. Rare preserved - "Night Still Life" (1931) and "Old Town" (1932), both from the Tretyakov Gallery - are on display.

In the 1950's and 80's house Kaptereva becomes the center of attraction, which brings together artists, poets, musicians, scientists, including young people present, keenly perceptive revelation wizard.
