Porcelain, graphics ", devoted to the work of the Leningrad sculptor Boris Yakovlevich Vorobyov, the birth centenary was celebrated last year. The exhibition features about 150 exhibits from the collection of the Hermitage and the "Imperial Porcelain Factory».
Since 1936, with the start of study at the Academy of Fine Arts, Boris Vorobyov began working at the Leningrad Porcelain Factory, by linking it with his creative life for more than three decades. He made a lot of models, factory filled up Gold Fund, and until now, many of them are duplicated and are always in demand among fans of porcelain. Contrary to the academic tradition, the artist remained true genre animalism, revealing their creativity in a variety of materials: porcelain, pottery, ceramics, glass, wood, metal.
In each work the artist put a deep understanding of the value and vulnerability of the natural world at the same time, serious and thoughtful approach to their models. Thematic range animalistic sculpture's very wide, but a kind of leitmotif of Boris Vorobyov can be considered an image of polar bears, which the sculptor turned repeatedly to reach the purest style of classical solutions in a group of two figures: the walking and sitting polar bear.

Tigers and leopards were also favorite characters plastics Vorobyov. The monumental nature of sculpture "Tiger lying" and "Panther" ("Rage") demonstrate complete mastery of the artist material and shape, as well as an understanding of the nature of nature. "Panther" is of particular forms of grace and elegance, pointed plastic figure. Established in the late 1960's, it kind of sums up the artist's many years of experience in china. In his works, the sculptor has always sought to convey the inner nature of nature as he felt and understood it.
Animals has been the main but not the only topic that attracted the attention of Boris Vorobyov. Literary images, translated into the language of porcelain plastic - plastic studies on the works of Ivan Krylov, Lermontov, Gogol, Chekhov, SV Mikhalkov - became an artist at least important than animalistic. Immediately after his arrival, these works have aroused great interest among collectors and connoisseurs of china, becoming objects of high demand and collectibles. With a prototype of its literary characters, sculptures are, however, independent artistic works. Each group is characterized by freshness plastic solutions and lack of compositional and artistic patterns. All the characters remain in the loop inherent individuality.

series of characters based on the works of H . Gogol ("The Inspector General" and "Dead Souls"), which is often called "Gogol types", was set up literally in the same breath - according to the artist himself, in four months. The sculptures have a common plastic sound - in the figures about the same height or highlighted, exaggerating, until grotesque traits "tipazhnosti" identified in the prose of Nikolai Gogol.
In plastic loop by Anton Chekhov, in addition to the characters, there are plot group. "Chekhov's" series, staying within small-format, small plastic, demonstrates the high compositional and plastic artist's skill.
The final in a series of literary cycles was the group of sculptures on the works of Mikhail Lermontov. Here the basic principle was the artistic quality of the plastic form of conditionality, underline contrasting black and white tones and different textures of the material. Artistic means used to convey the inner allowed dramatic duality, psychological conflict inherent in heroes Lermontov.
Besides the original porcelain works from the collection of the State Hermitage Museum, the exhibition will feature thirty graphic works by Boris Vorobyov. Particularly impressive watercolor by the artist in the 1980s, during the period of severe illness: working memory, the sculptor takes on paper gallery animalistic images, memories and fantasies.
The exhibition artists Imperial Porcelain Factory offered their decorative interpretation of the image of polar bears, thus transferring the classical form, created by Boris Vorobyov, a new customized look of an art object.
For Animals entrenched unfairly labeled as "frivolous genre" . The plastics Boris Vorobyov captivates sincere and profound approach to the image. Commending his characters, he sought to bring the world "our little" in line with the world of men, or even above it. The purpose of his creative quest Boris Yakovlevich Vorobyov seen is "to ... porcelain animals show people the beauty of nature, forced them to hear the voice of nature and love her ».
