Chronologically, the exhibition covers the period from the mid-1950s to the 2000s, which significantly extend the idea of ​​the work of artists, known to viewers from the permanent exhibition of the Russian Museum, as well as to acquaint them with the works of masters such as Andrei Kurnakov, Alexander Gritsai , Kugach , has not previously participated in the exhibition projects of the museum.

The collection includes the most significant works of the time, covers a wide palette of styles and artistic techniques, coexisting within the synthetic genre of "Socialist Realism" . Realism as a style statement of the authors interpreted rather loosely, then turning to impressionism, to abstract it, and primitivism.
