In April this year in the gallery "Marichevich Fine Art" will be held Exhibition of the People's Artist of the USSR, member of the Academy of Fine Arts Helium Helium-Chuveleva Korzheva Mikhailovich (b. 1925) . The exhibition will be presented to dozens of artist's works from private collections, most of the works have never before been exhibited.
M. Helium - a man of spirit, a living genius of the Soviet era. Since the 1990's, he rarely takes part in exhibitions and avoids the appearance of secular events. Nevertheless, his paintings remain popular and relevant.
Such, for example, "Adam and Eve P. A." (1996-1998) and "The Three" (1998), which will be on display at the exhibition. «I clearly demarcate the range of his interests. Policy area I am not interested. People determine the course of affairs in the country, in the words of Saint-Exupery, I deeply unsympathetic. Those thriving community, which now came into the arena, I'm not interested, and I am as an artist, I do not see no sense to explore this part of society. But I'm interested in people who, on the contrary, fall out of the cage. "The extra people" - today it is quite a wide range. People rejected, if thrown out of life and not claimed by the present era ... Their fate, their internal struggles are interesting to me. They represent for me a true work of art ».
Each picture of the author, whether it be genre scenes, still life and nudes, which is famous author - a deep independent work. «I had a long-standing dream - to write a woman's body, giving it a social character. Era, in my opinion, the best is not genre, but a woman as a social phenomenon ... » The exhibition will be shown six works by the author on the subject. Female figures against a background of multi-colored quilt, pottery jugs, and even the gray landscape outside of Moscow - Moscow ordinary surroundings - are a way era, the image of Russia.
The exhibition will represent the genre of still life, work on which the artist has always been a fascinating and important. «After all, if you look carefully, you will notice many of my still life paintings ...» - speaks Helium Mikhailovich. A separate group in the works Korzheva up still lifes with subtext - for example, "The Forgotten Fool" (1987), depicting a doll, antiquated in an old bowl, or "Hammer and Sickle" (2003) - a kind of requiem for the Soviet era.

The exhibition will introduce visitors and the works of the series "Tyurlikov" ("Mutants"), executed in 1990 and depicting grotesque fantasy creatures. «What I wanted to express" Mutants "? Hard to say. They are understood in different ways. Maybe it was a premonition of things to come, what then happened with us. Anyway, it turned out I had quite unintentionally, I had nothing concrete in mind. I stopped at a time when the work became politicized and lose the general, the deeper meaning ».

Gely Korzhev represented in major museum collections in Russian. Such works as "Raising the banner of" (1960) and "Lovers" (1959) from the Russian Museum, firmly consolidated itself in the collective consciousness of the Soviet people as the true image of the revolutionary and post-war period. "In the works Korzheva constantly sounds the theme of heroism, largely discredited interpretation of the leaf in the socialist realist works, but resumed in Korzheva in its true sense," - wrote a famous art critic VS Manin.

Korzhev, despite the high positions (in 1968-1975 headed the Union of Artists of the RSFSR), was far from politics, never was not a Communist. In the post-perestroika period, he declined to two orders of government, including their adoption of hypocrisy. « I have always been in my life came from the fact that I have the right to do something that is the soul. This is the main right in his life. It is not given above, and do not be awarded by someone. It must suffer his honest attitude to work, which has devoted itself. I think that I had won. So always write only what I want. Life is art, painting for me is simply loses all meaning. And in the work I most cherish freedom.
