Today in the Moscow Museum of Modern Art opens the exhibition Chris Marker's "movies and pictures" in the 9 th International Month of Photography in Moscow "Biennale in 2012."

At the exhibition one of the most influential filmmakers of the postwar era will be Chris Marker presented his photographic series "The Koreans", "Who am it?", "trailer", "Based on Durer," "Let the people", will show his film "Runway," "Without the sun," and video installation, "Silent Movie ».
Chris Marker (b. 1921, Neuilly-sur-Seine, France) - appeared on the Parisian cultural scene as a writer and editor, and author of the unique expression of documentaries. International recognition has come to Marker in 1962 after a short sci-fi film 'Runway »(La Jetée).
in 1970 Marker created a documentary about the history of the Left - "Deep in the Red Air» (Le Fond de l'air est rouge, 1977), and travel and memory - "Without the sun» (Sans Soleil, 1982). «Koreans" - a project in 1957: then, Chris Marker was among the few journalists who were allowed to move freely in North Korea. The photos captured during the trip, without any censorship showed the daily life of the country four years after a devastating war. Surprisingly, the pictures of these trips on Korean soil were rejected on both sides of the 38th parallel: North did not take pictures because they did not mention Kim Il Sung and South - simply because they were made across the border .
