today in the Russian Museum opens exhibit of works Nicholas Feshin (1881-1955), the world-famous Russian artist, who left his homeland in 1923 and subsequently lived and worked in the U.S.. The exhibition includes about 100 paintings and graphic works from the Russian Museum, State Museum of Fine Arts of the Republic of Tatarstan, Kozmodemyansk cultural and historical museum complex, the Tretyakov Gallery, the Scientific Research Academy of Fine Arts Museum and private collections in the U.S. and Switzerland.
Already in early works Feshin is distinctive, recognizable style, marked by masterly lines, rich nuance of complex color transitions and increased emotionality free brushwork . Imaginative solution portraits 1900-1910's, through which the artist has been gaining popularity and recognition, marked an organic combination of plastic discoveries of Impressionism, Art Nouveau and the traditions of realistic painting.
exhibition introduces the well-known and little familiar to a wide audience Feshin work performed in St. Petersburg and Kazan, where the artist in pre-revolutionary decade, has created its own picturesque school, and with sufficient completeness covers the American period of his work (1920-50s). Along with portraits, in which most clearly revealed uncommon talent Feshin picturesque, presents his earlier thematic work, pictorial and graphic Study nudes, still life and landscape designs, as well as images of indigenous inhabitants of the south-western regions of the United States, constituting a special, much like the page in the works the master, and in the history of American culture.
