exhibition, taking place in the cross of the Year Italy - Russia, is devoted to Naples - the city that became a symbol of earthly bliss. Geographical context combines paintings and drawings by Russian and Italian artists who were inspired by the genius of the place - Naples.

Lines traditional Neapolitan songs became the title of the exhibition is not accidental. They - the quintessence of a special relationship to this southern, not unlike any other city in Italy. Naples differed from the "academic" in Rome, Florence and classic carnival of Venice to its location, a mild coastal climate and unique atmosphere dolce far niente - «blissful doing nothing».

Diplomatic relations between the Russian Empire and Naples kingdom was established in 1777. Connection between the two countries were very strong and friendly during the first half of the XIX century, until 1861, since the accession to the combined Naples Italian kingdom. Genuine flowering of Russian-Neapolitan political, economic and cultural ties reached during the reign of Emperor Nicholas I. Shchedrin, arrived in Italy in 1818, lived and worked there until the end of his life (he is buried in Sorrento). In one of the earliest works of Neapolitan period - "Naples. On the waterfront (Riviera di Chiaia) ", 1819 (TG) - the artist has depicted himself among the many figures of the foreground. This landscape, as well as other, later on a similar subject - "View of Naples (Riviera di Chiaia)", 1826 (TG) - the first time after restoration for a long time became available to the public.

The exhibition presents a series of gouaches executed by Italian artists, amateurs (GIM). According to the purpose of these graphic works were the forerunners of commemorative postcards, which played the most popular and scenic spots of Naples: a panorama of the city from the hill Posillipo, the Royal Palace of Capodimonte, views of Mount Vesuvius, is often depicted with a smoking top or at the time of the eruption, the island and the coast Bay of Naples.
