Today in the Marble Palace of the State Russian Museum will vernissage of the exhibition "The Movement. Form. Dance. " Exhibition for the first time in sufficient detail is variety of interpretations of the phenomenon of dance and movement concepts as an important aesthetic category in the national fine arts from the beginning of the XX century to our days. The exhibition includes sculptures, paintings, drawings, photographs, video art from the Russian Museum and private collections.

Dance - a unique view of the spatial arts, combining the elitism and democracy, sensitively reflect changes in the intellectual culture that took place in the twentieth century. It was during this century, most fully revealed the aesthetic potential of dance, which has absorbed the achievements of past eras and innovations of our time. In the present study dance as a kind of communication between people and the form of creative expression is embodied in the major categories for the art form and movement.

The exhibition reveals its subject as a direct depiction of scenes and scenes associated with traditional dance (classical, folk and ritual), and in allegorical form. The original, sometimes completely unexpected incarnation the theme is in the works of Russian avant-garde artists of the first third of the twentieth century and the representatives of contemporary art ( M.
