Today at 18:00 Krokin Gallery (The Glade, 15) presents a solo exhibition of Leonid Tishkov « Arctic diary ».

In September 2010, the artist Leonid Tishkov with an international expedition, consisting of scientists, artists, writers and musicians who made the trip on a schooner in the Arctic, the islands of Spitsbergen and North-East Land. This expedition was organized by the London-based independent community of Cape Farewell, the main purpose of which is public to the problems of climate change on Earth and searching for ways out of the environmental crisis.

Arctic has now become a battleground for multinational energy companies ; Russia is actively trying to unfreeze the Arctic "to turn it into a zone of their economic interests. But nobody thinks, what a catastrophe can result in exploitation of this amazingly beautiful and also the fragile polar world. Maybe it's the only place on Earth where civilization has not destroyed the harmony of nature.

Artists can not stop the march of events and close the program for "recycling" in the Arctic, but they can pay attention people on this issue, the fact that glaciers are melting, that even a small loss of snow cover at the poles will bring incalculable harm to mankind - floods, typhoons and droughts in the mid-latitudes. Summer fires, freezing rain in Moscow this winter, millions of broken tree - all the links of one chain, and all that - an echo of dying in the Arctic.

Exhibition by artist Leonid Tishkov - a story about an incredibly beautiful , the magical world of the Arctic. There may be various miracles: the moon down from heaven, shining polar bears walking on ice floes, in a sea of blue whales swimming among white clouds in the sky - blue icebergs, ice, singing, snow emits light, and the melting glacier appeals to us, people silently saying: "I'm still alive».
