Name of Honored Artist of Russia Vladimir Gavrilovic Leonov (1939-1993) have long and rightfully occupies a leading place among the artists of Vladimir . The artist was born in Belogorsk Amur region. He studied at the AI Kurnakov in the Orel Pedagogical Institute. From 1965 he lived on the land of Vladimir. Starting with the book charts and claiming himself as a talented painter, he was in the early 1970's suddenly became interested etching. Fascination with it quickly grew into the main business of life. Dedication and recklessly artist has to master the subtleties of this most complicated technology. And very quickly become one of the leading Etchers, with its unique recognizable style and theme.

During the short time that was allotted to him for life on earth, the master managed to create in their works the whole world, mainly which was originally the Russian land. In his etchings and VG Leonov extolled what he truly loved - native open spaces, fields, rivers, urban edge and always Orthodox churches. In these works, there is some kind of piercing, and timelessness. The artist shows us "with what has gone Russian land." He does it wonderfully talented figurative and without fail. His landscapes are living their quiet lives, filled with the sounds and feelings. They are almost never empty, they must feel a human presence. And more birds in the image which the master has reached the highest levels of skill. Thin, short stroke, which the artist skillfully mastered, flawless composition and precise image allowed him to pass almost palpable flicker crust and swaying grasses, dragonflies flutter trembling and rustling leaves. Unfortunately, the artist was not destined to live a long life in art: it was burnt down early. But his life continues he created works of art in which so keenly felt the artist's soul and the soul of the Russian land ...
