The final part of the project "History of Russian Video Art", which explores the birth, first steps, and the development of video as an art form in Russia
Today, December 17 at the Moscow Museum of Modern Art (Ermolaevskiy per., 17) opens the exhibition "History of Russian Video Art. Volume 3 ».
« History of Russian Video Art "- a three-part project that includes a series of exhibitions, lectures, demonstrations and publications, illustrating the birth, first steps, and the development of video as an art form in Russia. The project opened in January 2007 after several years of rigorous and methodical research.

Prior to the first part of the project - the exhibition "Volume 1" - systematic knowledge about the development of video art and its cultural values were very small. In recent years, the project "History of Russian Video Art" filled all the gaps, failing once and for all to find video art on the map of Russian contemporary art. In the process, managed to achieve many important goals:
- establish a reference point ("Conversation with the lamp" Andrew Monastery, 1985);
- acquaint the public with the pioneers of video art, which had to work in sweatshops conditions in order to escape government censorship;
- save a few key works from irreparable damage or even total loss;
- prove that the video was the most powerful tool that was available to artists to tell Russia and the world about who they are, what their roles and expectations after the collapse of the Soviet Union;
- offer precise contours given directions and issues raised by video artists at a critical period of change of the millennium.
«Volume 3" continues to present the history of video art in Russia, beginning with the date on which stood the exhibition "Volume 2" (March 2009). The new exhibition presents the most significant achievements of Russian video art made in recent years (roughly the last five years). This is a unique opportunity to get closer to the work of those artists whose video received national and international recognition, to track the latest trends, which is experimenting younger generation, and get acquainted with works created in various regions of Russia.

Organizers of the project "Volume 3" fruitful cooperation with experts in the field of art and new technologies, which took up a number of works for the main exhibition and thematic programs made for the exhibition hall on the top floor. Every day here will be on display new videos that will show within a show a lot of work. This contribution is especially valuable, because one of the main objectives of the project - to promote discussion, debate and criticism to introduce new concepts.
During the exhibition, visitors will have the opportunity to see rare video documentary about the artists and people who played a decisive role in the development of video art, as well as take part in open discussions and attend workshops to be conducted by the artists themselves.
«Volume 3" - is an unprecedented attempt to offer the most broad overview of the (total will be more than 500 works) of how contemporary Russian artists are using video technology to express their feelings and views on the world in which we live.
This is the final part of the History Project Russian Video Art "and the starting point for a new approach to video art as an art form with a 25-year history and tradition.
