Today, July 16, in the Center of Aesthetic Education "Museyon" Pushkin Pushkin presents "Bestiary. From reality to fantasy. " The exhibition is part of the project "Contemporary Sculpture at Volkhonka country estate, which reflects a number of problems facing the art of sculpture today. This is the fourth exhibition of Pushkin Pushkin in the project. The works presented in this exhibition, it is equally aimed at visitors of all ages - adults and children.

The place of exposure - in the heart of old Moscow, in the old Moscow Manor (XVIII - XIX century. ), surrounded by a small park - carries contemporary works in historical context.

Bestiary comes from the Latin word Bestia (the beast) in the Middle Ages the so-called zoological collections of articles, accompanied by the obligatory pictures. The content of these articles capricious intertwined natural science information, the legacy of ancient and Eastern mythology, Biblical texts and Christian morality. Often described in the bestiary animals that do not exist in reality - for example, a dragon, basilisk, unicorn, Manticore. In addition to the external description, each being received religious and philosophical meaning: the authors, bestiaristy opposed animals, symbolizing good and evil forces. By analogy, they tried to reveal the relationship between the world of corporeal and spiritual world. A illustrators, in turn, tried to find a visible image, which would clearly embodies a complex content. Bestiary remain popular, and now they are addressed contemporary writers, painters and sculptors, creating images of fantastic creatures, embodying the complex philosophical concepts.

Young visitors will be more interesting is the external aspect of the sculptures themselves fantastic beasts and magical creation arising from the dictates of his imagination masters, sometimes quite unrealistic, almost abstract, as in the work of George Frangulyan. Adults also can penetrate into the religious and philosophical content of the exhibits: "read" the biblical text in the "bull" from the series "Sacred Animals" Cyril IIrotopopova or see his "Warrior", which aims to fight against evil, whose embodiment is often performed dragon, being present here same.

Among the authors who presented works of sculptors honored Russia, member of Arts and academicians. Some of them have already participated in the project "Contemporary sculpture in the estate in Volkhonka" before: George Frangulyan, Igor Kozlov, Mikhail Dronov, Alexander Tsigal. Other first present their works in this exhibition: Kirill Protopopov, Galina Shilin, Olga Karelets, Andrei Volkov. We are especially grateful to the heirs have provided remarkable works of the recently deceased great artists of the second half of the twentieth century and Andrew Lazarus Gadaeva Marci.
