Today, 21 January, in the exhibition halls Russia Academy of Arts (Prechistenka, 21) opens an exhibition of works Honored Artist of Russia Yuri Lukshina - illustrations for the book Elias Lönnrot Kalevala ».

The exhibition is the culmination of many years of classic graphic Petersburg schools on the themes of the Karelian-Finnish epos. The exhibition displays over 50 works created by the artist specifically for the new edition of "Kalevala", and more than 20 works, made over several decades of work on the images of the poem.

Yuri Konstantinovich Lyukshin was born in 1949 in Leningrad. In 1971 he graduated from art school. Serov. Member more than three hundred exhibitions in Russia and abroad, of which sixty - personal. Creative artist noted by many professional awards.

Yuri Lyukshin started a graphic reading "Kalevala" in the year when the world was noted 150-year anniversary of its first publication. The very first book illustrations and easel paintings Yu Lukshina this series drew the most attention of art historians and connoisseurs of the art graphics. It became clear that there is a new bold Larry, not only the plot moves, but the philosophical formations, prisoners in the 50 runes of the poem.

The artist chose the approach to the text not as a collection of myths, as well as to the nature-philosophy poem.
