Today, 19 October, at 19.00 in the gallery pop/off/art (Street Radio, 6/4) will be the opening of the exhibition of paintings Alexandra Sigutina « I see so. Thematic Supremus ».
new project Alexander Sigutina devoted, like his other work in recent years, the study of the relationship of different languages, fine arts, the relationship of sacred and secular principles in the culture. Here suprematic colored shapes floating in the space of two-meter canvas, fold in the composition, which correspond to the iconography deesis and are called "Christ in power," "Demetrius of Thessalonica," etc. This is a rigorous, conceptually adjusted paintings, which range of interpretations which are extremely wide: from the discovery of perspective on the impact of the icon painting avant-garde to a quiet personal protest to the current state control of religion and the establishment of one-dimensional national-patriotic graphic trend at all levels. In any case, it is flashy, but masterfully reprezentirovannoe art, which contributes to building bridges between the speculative state of contemporary and centuries-old native of artistic and spiritual tradition. At the same time, these works reflect the current search for minimalism - a trend in the unclaimed own homeland, but existing in the world art scene.
Sigutin Alexander (b. 1959) - one of the brightest representatives of the southern Russian wave of contemporary Russian art, along with the B. Koshlyakov , Yu.Shabelnikov , A. Ter-Oganyanom , participated in many international projects. His works are in museum, corporate and private collections around the world. Lives in Moscow.
The third Moscow Biennale of Contemporary Art exhibition also demonstrated his "guest workers of the spirit" (with B.
