Impressionism - painting of light
Today in the Viennese Albertina Gallery opens the exhibition, which will bring together 170 works by masters of impressionism and post-impressionism
Today, 11 September, the Vienna Albertina Gallery opens the exhibition «Impressionism - painting of light». The exposition will include 170 Impressionist and post-Impressionist works from the museum's own collection, a collection Batliner (Batliner Collection), private and museum collections. Of these, 75 works will provide Wallraf-Richartz Museum (Wallraf-Richartz-Museum & Fondation Corboud) in Cologne.
In addition, visitors can see about 40 historical sites, scenic accessories and fixtures. This will help to imagine the daily life of an artist: he worked on his ideas, prepared and wrote his canvases. The exhibition will also include educational materials: Installation, explaining various optical phenomena, and images made using X-ray or infrared radiation. This will allow the viewer to better understand the creative process of the Impressionists.
The main focus of this exhibition is made on the results of the last five-year study, helped to enrich the former knowledge about the development of Impressionism and of the methods and techniques used by artists. The organizers are becoming of equal importance and history of art, and its technological component. This approach allows new insights on impressionism, of the works of Gustave Courbet (Gustave Courbet), Gustave Caillebotte (Gustave Caillebotte), Edouard Manet (Édouard Manet), Claude Monet (Claude Monet), Pierre-Auguste Renoir (Auguste Renoir), Paul Cézanne ( Paul Cézanne), Camille Pissarro (Camille Pissarro), Paul Signac (Paul Signac) and Vincent van Gogh (Vincent van Gogh).
