In the Marble Palace Russian Museum exhibition, presenting works of Chinese artist A-Sun Do, was born in 1942 in Taiwan and now living in France. Creativity A-Sun Do permeated by myths and legends gathered at the open spaces of Africa and the Pacific. He graduated from art school at the State Pedagogical University, Taipei, and the Academy of Arts of San Fernando in Madrid. He lived in the United States, Brazil, traveled to Africa, the Amazon, South Pacific. The exhibition presents about 40 paintings and 10 installations.

A-Sun I believe art «the constant search for the truth». The desire to break free from the restriction rules in the works the artist has led to the need to study the art of primitive peoples. He leaves the post of professor in Taipei and is sent on a trip to Africa. Thus began the different periods of his art: «sun» (gold), «Pacific» (blue) and present ( «red and black and white »).

In 1980 the mines between Namibia and the desert, he opened a shadow, mixed in which darkness and light yellow - is an instant inspiration transformed primary energy period of his work, which is called «solar period». In the second half of the 1980's he went to the Maya and Inca civilizations, and then in the Amazon region, the South Pacific islands, New Guinea and Indonesia. As a result of these visits appeared about a hundred canvases «Pacific period». In 1995, he made a second trip to a popular asmat and Dani in New Guinea, which detects and matches colors of the peoples of the South Pacific and Taiwan. These experiences and childhood memories of time spent in the mountains with her children people Taya, led to a three-artist «red and black and white» period of creativity. He said: «In my picture, some elements are transmitted curves, while others - absolutely straight lines, which actually represents the yin and yang, which form a complete harmony and tranquility». In his work is done not just the evolution of form and meaning: he introduced the concept of time and space: «I want to depict the direction without directions, world without space, without the reality. This is the truth, I would like to express ».

African sculpture as a source of inspiration for his installations. A-Sun I very actively engaged perekomponovkoy secondary materials, transforming them into works created by various techniques. He often uses the technique of the acryl and sand in a variety of basics: from the canvas to wood, fabric, special paper, etc. It uses typical of primitive tribal art color coding: red means life, black - and white because it symbolizes peace. Thus re-totem objects gain life through formal resemblance to the animals.

Since 1968, the A-Sun three times I participated in the Biennale of Sao Paulo, and in 1998 became Commander of the Order of Arts and Literature of France, the third Chinese artist awarded this difference. A-Sun I was also one of the largest collectors of primitive art. His private collection includes thousands of items.
