In the Central House of Artists Exhibition opens today, installations, created by participants in the competition of contemporary art

2009 the European Commission launched the European Year of Creativity. In this regard, the European Commission in Russia organized a competition of contemporary art.

The historical basis for the concept of competition is the 20 th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall (1989) and the 5 th anniversary of EU enlargement to the east (2004). The aim of the project - to show Europe as an open cultural space in which there are no «wall» and barriers, where the cultural dialogue and freedom of movement are important for creativity, innovation and understanding. In terms of the Delegation of the European Commission in Russia, the destruction of the Berlin Wall, or simply drop it under the weight shown on her words and drawings, which over the years turned it into an overall artistic work, in a sense, the wall razdvinulo studio artists and to allow movement and new impetus for creativity. Europe has become a common studio a whole generation of artists who share an open cultural space. For many artists in Russia and CIS countries, Europe has a professional and personal experience. On the creativity of artists have influenced artists from Europe, traveling, reading, sharing.

For the selection of works has been invited curator and critic Catherine Degot which curator has assembled a jury composed of: Catherine Degot (Chairman), curator Julia Aksenova, Anna Zaitseva, Daria Pyrkina, Stanislav Shuripa. Curators, aware that the question of the European Commission in Russia is not familiar to most, at least, the young artists have taken a proactive stance in working with sponsors. As a result, preferred product, in which artists produce their, largely subjective, and critical attitude to history as the fall of the Berlin Wall and the reunification of Europe, and the thesis of Russia as part of a large geographical Europe.

According to the terms of the contest, it could take part citizens of Russia living in Russia or Europe, as well as EU citizens residing in the territory of Russia. The work must be new and be in the form of installation.

project participants will be given exhibition space in the halls of CHA for the establishment and installation of a grant for the production of works in the amount of 5 thousand euro.

By the close of the exhibition catalog will be published with reproductions of all works, most of which will be created directly on the site.
