The Art of Women's
In Paris's Pompidou Center has recently opened a large-scale exhibition devoted exclusively creativity of women artists
Recently, the permanent exhibition in Paris's Pompidou Center, which houses one of the world's largest collections of contemporary art, there have been significant and unusual changes. Brave curator Morino Camille (Camille Morineau) decided to fill the exhibition halls of the museum exclusively creations of women artists. Through her efforts, the visitors of the new exhibition entitled "elles @ centrepompidou" will be able to get acquainted with the history of alternative art XX - XXI centuries, created by representatives of the weak sex.
«Of course, this is a risk - Morino said. - Delete men, and show only the women - a gesture of revolutionary and at the same time positive. But our avant-garde museum. To do not like others - part of the culture of the Pompidou Center ».
Perhaps this is not the first such exhibition in the world, as stated in the advertisement, but, of course, this is the first project of this magnitude. The exhibition, which occupies two floors of the museum is organized chronologically and thematically. It includes about 500 works, sponsored by more than 200 women. These include not only the famous artists early XX century, such as Suzanne Valadon (Suzanne Valadon), Sonia Delaunay (Sonia Delaunay) and Frida Calo (Frida Kahlo), but also well-known contemporary authors: Louise Bourgeois (Louise Bourgeois), Pipilotti Rist (Pipilotti Rist), and many others. Among the exhibits - paintings, sculptures, installations, drawings, photographs, prints, video art, furniture and even architectural models. They explain quotations artists that curator also put on display. The exhibition, with periodic rearrangements and additions to last a year.
The exhibition is divided into seven thematic sections. The first of these is called «Pioneers» and dedicated work of women who stood at the cradle of a number of innovative trends in the art of the first half of XX century. The second part, «Free Flame», brings together artists who have incorporated in their works a critical look at the life and art, and challenged the established categories and limitations. In the third part, «The appeal body», the work of authors who applied to image the body and its related stereotypes. The fourth section, «eccentric abstraction», tells of the women who made an enormous contribution to redefining the visual and theoretical categories, seeking to combine abstract and figurative, conceptual and sensual. In the fifth part, «My Room», whose name borrowed from Virginia Woolf (Virginia Woolf), considered a contradictory attitude to women's personal space, which for them is both a place of imprisonment and freedom. The sixth section, «verbal creativity», devoted to the use of language in art. Finally, the last, seventh section, «Intangible», presents the viewer with works that belie the traditional view of the female principle and, consequently, women's creativity as a vehicle for physical, material versus immaterial and spiritual.
