Making its filigree photographic compositions, Claudia Rogge, speaking at the same time as a producer, choreographer and kollazhista. Each new series of work usually begins with many hours photo session, during which he makes more than 10 thousand images, and then installs the selected works on the computer, collecting some unique moments in the panel presentation. Rogge asked his sitter repeating the same task or action: to fall to the ground or stretch to the sky, perform acrobatic stunts and rock an imaginary infant. Thus, in a series of works «Battle» (Battle), participants suggested to throw at each other over-tomato, and in another series model jumped through mountains soapy foam. Dance, theater and, most importantly, the opera became an important source of inspiration for Claudia Rogge.
for your language, the artist develops a serious theoretical framework that has arisen as a result of studying sociology and communications theory in Berlin and Essen, where Claudia started working with video. «I was shocked by the idea of mass action - the parades, choral performances, rallies, a crowd of refugees, football fans, immigrants», - says the author. Based on the works of Siegfried Krakauera and Elias Kanetti, Claudia Rogge has created his own «aesthetic uniformity».
first video Claudia received approval from the critics, but the broad popularity it had in 2002, after the project «The crowd» (Mob), spoke at the same time on the variability and uncontrolled human mass. Rogge vozila truck in Europe, in a transparent body which was placed 5 thousand puppet heads, and rented it to the famous tourist places. This traveling installation was the prelude to the first series of photographs «relationship» (Rapport), where human figures were repeated geometric pattern. These elegant, but fairly static works soon followed by a series of «Uniformity» (Uniform), a dramatic composition which influences performance.
Retrospective exhibition at the Moscow Museum of Modern Art presents the evolution of «aesthetic uniformity» in the works of Claudia Rogge - from early decorative, until striking examples of visual choreography, which the artist explores the theater of human life.
