Today in the MMSI opens exhibition of works by Chilean legend graphics and cartoons Renzo Antonio Giovanni Pekkenino Raji

Today, the Moscow Museum of Modern Art (Gogolevskiy r, 10) opens exhibition of works by Chilean legend graphics and cartoons Renzo Antonio Giovanni Pekkenino Raji, known in Latin America as LUCAS. On display are 35 prints and cartoons made in different techniques and give presentation on the development of graphic art in Chile, beginning in 1950.

Renzo Antonio Giovanni Pekkenino Raji, Lucas, was born May 29, 1934, in the Italian town of Ottone, located between Genoa and Milan. He was not, and the year, along with his parents when he arrived in Chile in the city of Valparaiso. Here was his first formal meeting with the world of art, he had to work typesetters in the printing, the artist, designer showcases.

Peru Lucas owned the famous illustration of «Memo Valparaíso», «Memo Viña del Mar», «menageries Chilean Kingdom». In 1977 out of his pen out favorite character throughout Latin America on behalf of Don Memorario, which will given to the author of the typical characteristics of the Chilean national character. Day after day the artist surprised readers by their sharpness of political, economic and other journal topics. Endowed with a fine sense of humor, his cartoons were not just an instant picture, but this portrait of Chilean life.

Renzo Pekkenino was awarded the most significant national and international awards in the field of publishing and journalism. In 1987 for services to the country, he received the Chilean nationality.

The artist died on Feb. 7, 1988 at the age of 53 years.
