From 13 April to 8 May in the gallery pop/off/art works exhibition of paintings by Parisian artist Naftali Rakuzina . This is the second of his personal project in Russia, which brings together paintings, entitled «Memorable views/Cartes Postales». This scenic loop is created specifically for the gallery pop/off/art. It includes several images of major cities in the world related to the life of the artist (Moscow, Jerusalem, Paris), but written through the prism of reproduction of the most famous, klishirovannyh, «otkrytochnyh» perspectives. This marks both the memory and the «restoration», redefining visual quotations nipped using plastic tools. The cycle includes a number of paintings devoted to books related to Russia, but issued in different languages.

Looking at the canvases Rakuzina, it is difficult to clearly define their genre. Main «heroes» of his paintings are books recognizable architectural method, based on images of their roots, or turn a painter in the mid-seventies of last century and no longer relevant for decades. Call it a still-life? But imprinted turn, for example, an album of reproductions of Cézanne expand the usual scope of conditional terms: for Rakuzina they clearly narrow. It is obvious that the work reflected both the artist and his thoughts about the landscape, and the subject image reproduction, and ultimately, the fate of the painting. «Strictly speaking, all that I am doing - is like a still life genre. But I prefer the English title of this genre - still life, rather than a nature morte, a silent, frozen wilderness, but not dead. But because the book - that the universe, the whole world, the book is on a canvas - it is a window into the world. The window through which I see in the world. If this window opens on the landscape, the picture becomes a landscape. I do not "still life with books, and still life, in which the book is the main and only character, and character»,-said by the artist himself. Looking at the world through picture books: This is the way to describe the modus vivendi Rakuzina in painting.

Exhibition «Memorable views/Cartes Postales» is open from 13 April to 8 May in the gallery pop/off/art (str Radio, 6/4, entrance from the street. Kazakov) from Monday to Saturday 12.00 to 20.00, admission free.

As part of the affiliate program Swedbank and galleries pop/off/art from 14 April to 30 June series graphics Naftali Rakuzina, closely linked to the picturesque «honors species», will be presented at the premises of Swedbank (Myasnitskaya, 48) .
