Today, in the case of Benoit Russian Museum opens exhibition of religious paintings Borovikovsky , dedicated to 250 anniversary of the artist . For the first time in full will be presented to work with religious content from the collections of the Russian Museum, Tretyakov Gallery, Tver Art Gallery, Museum of the History of Religion, Sergiev Posad Museum. A total of 50 paintings, 7 drawings, as well as church utensils and vest.
In the Russian Museum, the largest collection of religious works Borovikovsky - over 37. Religious paintings, icons was one of the main directions of creativity Borovikovsky. Master of Many worked on the interior decoration of Kazan Cathedral in St. Petersburg, met the six images for the Holy door and four-way for the iconostasis, the icons they are written for St. Isaac's Cathedral, houses the Church of St Michael's palace and other churches of St. Petersburg.
The exhibition will be on display for the first time the icon-painting «Calvary», acquired in 2008 for the Russian Ministry of Culture of Russia museum from private collectors.
