From March 20 to June 14 with the Moscow Center of Contemporary Culture «garage» can be seen a selection of artworks by contemporary artists from the collection of Francois Pinault Foundation

Today, the Center for Contemporary Culture «garage» opens exhibition of selected works from the collection of François Pinault Foundation, one of the largest collections of contemporary art in the world.

The exhibition, entitled «A state of the world?», which occupies most of the 8 500 square meters of space «garage», will be an unprecedented event for the city. The exposition will consist of the brightest contemporary artists, including Jeff Koons, Bill Viola, Dan Flavina, Maurizio Kattelana, Cindy Sherman, Tim Noble and Sue Webster, Subodh Gupta, Philippe Parreno, Takashi Murakami, as well as Peter Fishli and David Weiss.

exhibition curator Caroline Bourgeois: «With this exhibition we have questions about the state of the world. The idea is that by selecting a number of major works, play with their size and volume melnikovskogo building. The first two parts address the topic of war, humanity, as well as the idleness of society. The third part presents works by artists from different continents, including America, Europe and new to the art world - Asia, India and the East, and is dedicated to global peace and the end of Utopia. All the works presented in the exhibition reflect the thinking of artists of the challenges the new century ».

Francois Pinault - one of the leading private art collectors in the world, twice named the magazine ArtReview «the most influential figure in contemporary art». François Pinault Foundation Collection consists of more than 2 000 pieces of leading contemporary artists. In June 2009, François Pinault to open new center for contemporary art Punta della Dogan, where will be the fourth account exhibition, selected from his collection. Renovated by architect Tadao Ando, Punta della Dogan will become a permanent base for the collection, together with the Palazzo Grassi, exhibition space, opened in 2006. The first exhibition from the collection under the title «Where are we going?» Opened in April 2006 in the Palazzo Grassi, in November 2006, followed by «Collection of Francois Pinault: elected post-pop» and in May of 2007 - «Sequence 1».

In October 2007, Carolyn Bourgeois supervised exhibit of works from the collection under the title «The flow of time» (Passage du temps), the first, which was not in Venice. The exhibition includes 96 artists and 39 works focused on advanced video and photo, 1997-2000. It was attended by Dan Flavin, Cindy Sherman, Vito Akkonchi, Bruce Naumann, Dan Graham and Gilbert and George.
