Vadim Borisovich Grigorev-Bashun was born in St. Petersburg in 1960. Future artist graduated from the Institute of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture. Repin Academy of Arts USSR with distinction. In 1988 - joined the Union of Artists of Russia. In 1993, Grigoriev was Bashun Fellow Galperti, worked and studied the art of the Renaissance in Italy, and in 1994-1995 - taught at the Art College in Baden-Baden (Germany).

In the works Grigorieva-Bashuna draft to abstraction combined with the study of eastern wisdom. He traveled to India, Nepal and Tibet. The artist often drawn to the ancient symbols (runes, cross, etc.)

The artist, following the traditions of ancient mausoleums and gravestones to create during his lifetime, has addressed the issue of death, to the «idea of End - go» in another world. Artist had an idea to make avtogrob where «auto» is not «automatic», and «author». He decided to create a facility to exhibit it at the shows, but after some time «to use for themselves». Grigoriev-Bashun wanted to show that «if the artist is taking a utilitarian object, like a coffin, he can make it out of the box for the human ashes into a work of art in the visual and philosophical object».

In the object materialized and engineering knowledge of the artist's father, Boris V. Grigoriev, one of the founders of the legendary nuclear submarine project «K-705», got in the Guinness Book of Records as the most high-speed submarine operations: 40 knots (80 km /h) under water.
