The gallery «PROUNI» «no news»
Today Gallery «PROUNI» opens exhibition of works by Andrei Volkov, entitled «No News»
From 19 February to 15 March at the gallery «PROUNI» (CSR Winery, 4 th Syromyatnichesky trans., 1, p. 6) an exhibition of paintings and photos Andrei Volkov under the title «No News».
The emergence of paintings by Andrei Volkov in the space of the gallery «PROUNI», unexpected at first glance, it seems nevertheless natural and completely organic. The project «No News» combines paintings and photographs of the 1970's and a few new ones, created specially for the exhibition of works.
Andrei Volkov consistently explores the phenomenon of everyday space, it manages to fix the time, spatio-temporal point of causing a spectator schemyaschee feeling a strong emotional reaction. Volkov did not create giperrealisticheskie «copies» of reality, as if it pierces through the most unattractive of everyday life, revealing the deeply personal, very intimate state.
However, the space of his pictures seem deliberately emasculate it is staffed and scenes - and film association in this case is far from accidental. Works of Andrei Volkov easily fit into the sequence of frames of film. Volkov, probably feels himself the opportunity to continue a certain length, so its effects are often combined in diptychs or triptychs, becoming the unit «cinema» speech with barely noticeable assembly gluing. At this point the work of Andrey Volkov approaches with the tactics of the art by American artist Edward Hopper - to the point that there is a natural dialogue between the works of Hopper 1950-60's and Volkov, who, unaware of its existence, has developed its system in the 1970's.
The exposition will include the best-known works by the artist: chetyrehchastnaya composition «Electricity», «Night», «accident», Triptych «Morning», etc.
Works of Andrei Volkov in the State Tretyakov Gallery, Moscow Museum of Modern Art, Bashkir State Art Museum, Kurgan Art Museum, art museums of Sochi, Vologda, Perm, Tomsk, Novosibirsk, Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky, Kaliningrad, Novokuznetsk, Alma -Ata, the Museum Ludwig in Cologne, etc.
