Today the Russian Museum opens an exhibition consisting of works by painters and sculptors, left in the United States from the Russian Empire and the Soviet Union until the late 1930's

Today, the Corps Benoit State Russian Museum opens exhibition «American artists from the Russian Empire» - regular exposure cycle «The Art of Russian emigration».

It is the works of painters and sculptors, left in the United States from the Russian Empire and the Soviet Union until the late 1930's. The names of many of them were removed from the history of national art and creativity remains unknown compatriots. The exhibition includes about 100 works from museums, galleries and private collections in the U.S. (b on The majority of them are on display in Russia for the first time), as well as works from the Russian Museum and Tretyakov Gallery.

In the preface to the exhibition catalog, the U.S. ambassador to Russia William Burns, wrote: «By showing the impact America has had on artists of the XIX - XX centuries and how, in turn, these artists have influenced the American art exhibition American artists from the Russian Empire "is intended to reiterate what has created close ties between our countries over the past 200 years».

After the Russian Museum exhibition will go to the Tretyakov Gallery, and then to the Museum of Art in San Diego. The exhibition is being held in conjunction with the Foundation for International Arts and Education.
