February 19, at the Moscow Museum of Modern Art (Petrovka 25) opens exhibition «Dialogue with pastel», dedicated to the seventieth birthday of outstanding Russian Graphics Peter Gergardovicha Dick (1939-2002).

exhibition prepared in conjunction with gallery G.O.S.T . , based in Moscow in December 2003 and observes the fifth anniversary of its activities.

Peter Dick was born in Altai, graduated from the «Stroganovku», then settled in Vladimir. Greater success came to the artist until 1990, when his solo exhibition opened at the Tretyakov Gallery and the Russian Museum, in London, Italy and Germany.

dialogue with the world of Peter Dick preferred to keep using their favorite material - dry pastel, applied most often in the emery paper or velours. This paint layer is not to maintain, so as not to disturb its natural velvety texture. In the hands of Dick ability of this technique repeatedly expanded and pastel stroke experienced this transformation. Spatial construction of a painter obviously reject illusory depth and key role in the visual regime works played by color. By subtracting to the minimum in the early works, and by the end of the 1990's finding exceptional brightness and a full, colorful works of Peter Dick demonstrates psychologically conditioned by the evolution of his worldview. Large colorful spots, and the plane is minimal interact with each other - they express the very essence of color, his towering almost to the symbolic sound. Similarly, working with color Substance ancient iconographers and Peter Dick organically learned from their experiences, while surrounded by fertile Vladimir-Suzdal old.

People's Artist of Russia Illarion Golitsin remembers Peter Dick: «His laconic work attracted many connoisseurs of this art. Liked his kindness. Smart, sound, lucid - these works attracted. By them, it was difficult to pass - they are charmed, and perhaps even taught. Taught to part with unnecessary, superfluous ... He wit, gentle, he is in love with their characters, although they are often turned into a compound of two or three spots, almost abstract ... Here is an iron, converted into a Gothic church, here mileyshaya dog and a magic apple, like a boat on sand or vessels, turned in the figures of people ... Thank you Peter. Work to live for him, pleasing us. And he to us ».

Artworks Peter Dick stored at the State Tretyakov Gallery (Moscow), State Russian Museum (St. Petersburg), State Museum of Fine Arts. Opening of the exhibition at the Moscow Museum of Modern Art (Petrovka, 25, Halls 2-4) held on 19 February at 18:00. The exhibition is open to the public from February 20 to March 15, 2009.
