Cloudy

Hamlet. Do you see younder cloud that's almost in shape of a camel?
Polonius. By the mass, and 'tis like a camel, indeed.

W. Shakespeare. "Hamlet, Prince of Denmark" Act III, Scene II

Camel Oblak majestic mountains ...

K. Balmont, «In the blue temple», 1920

«under the blue skies» - the fifth exhibition of the classic account of the Soviet and now Russian unofficial art Shelkovskoy (born in 1937) in Fine Art Gallery, but it has its own peculiarity. For the first time in Moscow, the artist presents a personal exhibition, consisting exclusively of sculpture, rather than just as organic for the graphics and painting. However, the displayed objects and reliefs made of metal and wood, set up primarily in the past year, the graphic on the concise and clear internal structure, and in a sense, picturesque, since all painted in turquoise. Hence, the Pushkin's line in the title.

Of course, «main heroes» Shelkovskoy become clouds. Not those that becloud firmament, immersed in melancholy, and those that weightless clubs, passing through a sunshine and perfect blue. Of course, metal or wood load their invoice, but it is a general scenario of the exhibition, and turns them into the medium, the mediators between the ideal and the real sectors. With literally embodied in the sculpture «The cloud over lugom»: semi-openwork steel structure depends thin legs-ray in the green stage, navevaya thought almost to Favorsky light.

Well, clue the entire concept of copyright (with the reconstruction of which is Shelkovskoy may not agree), it seems «animalisticheskaya» series, which, along with a «horse» and «donkey», is not in the local fragile, there is «cloud-camel». The one who causes to see poor Polonia, Prince Hamlet, podtrunivaya over him, and together kutsey human rationality in general. He praised by poets Silver Age (recall, for example, «Celestial verblyuzhat» Elena Guro). For who is the hero «Contractions» Nabokov. Which, finally, looking for eyes in the sky nezamutnenny children.

Exposure Gallery Fine Art (str Most Cadovaya 3, Bldg. 10) is open from February 12 to March 13, 2009 Monday to Friday (11.00-18.00) and Saturday (12.00-17.00) Sunday - closed.
