In the Yekaterinburg Museum of Fine Arts hosts exhibition of prints XVII - XX centuries «Metstsotinto. The history of black style ». It presents 75 works from the private collection of V. Belikova (Moscow), Department of Rare Books, Ural State University. AM Gorky, Sverdlovsk Regional Universal Scientific Library. VG Belinsky, as well as funds of Ekaterinburg Museum of Fine Arts.
This exhibition celebrates the unique art of engraving technique - metstsotinto - and represents artists metstsotinto different eras and styles. Our tools and techniques they embody a variety of genres of graphic art: the ancient and biblical scenes, portraits, landscape, still life, animals, illustrations of literary texts. The exposition includes works by artists of Germany, England, Italy, Estonia, Latvia and Russia, among them such names as K. Weigel, B. Greene, R. Irlom, G.-F. Rugendas, S. Vyalyal, V. Prokofiev, and Yu Borovitsky. Many of the prints, made from the works of famous artists - A. Carracci, G. Reynolds, P. Caravaggio, L. Giordano.
Engineering metstsotinto was invented in 1640's of the Dutch Ludwig van Zingenom. Soon she was in England, and from the middle of XVIII century, the black style has been further developed and became a specific type of English prints. Since the beginning of XVIII century technology metstsotinto gained popularity in Russia. Black style is used mainly for the reproduction of painting. She discovers that more opportunities than any other graphics technology. Engravings metstsotinto different depths and velvet tone, the richness of the cut-off shades. The invention of photography in the XIX century, the black style has come into disrepair, and only at the end of XX century it became a reborn, but not for reproduction, but to create original works.
Ekaterinburg is one of the centers of the revival of this unique technology, it has a number of exhibition action. In the future organization in Yekaterinburg, a large international festival «Metstsotinto».
The exhibition is presented in the Yekaterinburg Museum of Fine Arts until February 22, 2009. Working Hours: 11:00 - 19:00 (cash from 11:00 - 18:00). Monday, Tuesday - the weekend.
