Post-Soviet reality through the eyes of Russian artists in the exhibition in the United States

In the American city Middltaun, Connecticut, today opens exhibition of works by two Russian artists - Sasha Rudensky and Olga Chernysheva

exhibition of works by Russian artists, introduces viewers to the life in the former Soviet Union, opening today in the American city Middltaun, Connecticut. It takes place in the gallery of Ezra and Cecile Zikha with Ueslianskom University (Wesleyan University), and combines the work of two contemporary authors - Sasha Rudensky and Olga Chernysheva .

This project - the first major solo exhibition Rudensky. Almost no known Russian public fotohudozhnitsa will present two series of images: «Remains» (Remains, 2004/08) and «Demons» (Demons, 2007/08). The first of these, created in Russia and former Soviet countries, the author tries to explore the social and political transformations that have occurred and continue to occur in the former Soviet Union. With pain and adoration she chase seemingly quite ordinary fragments surrounding reality, as well as the most intimate moments of everyday life. «Demons» - a series of unusual, different, and even fantastical portraits.

Sasha was born in 1979 in Moscow, and in 1990 moved to the United States. In 2001, she finished Uesliansky University with a Bachelor of Arts, and in 2008 - School of Art and Architecture at Yale University and received a master's degree in arts. Since 2003, lectures on art at the University of Ueslianskom.

Olga Chernysheva will be presented at the video «March» (2005).

In his films and photographs the author very closely, but with irony considering the validity of the post. In «Marche», she oversees the grandiose, the spirit is deeply rooted in Soviet traditions, festive military ceremony near the Soviet Army Theater. It is unclear just what about the event is held. This, as the author suggests, it is understandable so guests, who were inside. This orchestra plays for them, they stood along the track, the boys in uniform, they are made balloons. The artist captured just what was happening outside, what she called «a sad part of the holiday, so characteristic of our time», which, in fact, «has become an event».

Olga Chernysheva - a world-recognized artist, whose works were exhibited not only in Russia but also abroad: at the Venice Biennale (2001), New York's Museum of MoMA (2008) and Swedish Lunds Konsthall (2008).
