This evening at the Moscow Museum of Modern Art exhibition of the artist and a sculptor Angel Orenzantsa «gravity»

This evening, Moscow Museum of Modern Art (Petrovka, 25) opens a solo exhibition of renowned artist and sculptor Angel Orenzantsa - a dreamer, a traveler and master of many different kinds of art. The project «gravity» Angel Orenzantsa represents creativity in all its diversity: graphics, color spatial installation, as well as videos of performances.

Angel Orenzants was born in Spain in the province of Aragon. During his 40-year career, he managed to try themselves in a variety of genres - chamber of graphics and paintings to monumental abstract sculptures and conceptual performance. Orenzants uses materials such as glass, ceramics, metal, colored plastics, and many others. Each of his work is documented in photographs and video. Portfolio Orenzantsa always closely linked with the places for which they are established, whether the natural landscape or a public space in the city. Many of his works ironically hinted at the social and geopolitical realities of today's globalized society.

Orenzants known around the world, particularly in Europe and the United States. Its exhibitions and performances were held in dozens of countries, and he repeated the student participant and the Venice Biennale. Art Angel Orenzantsa has been presented in Russia. In 2003, Orenzants and Mikhail Shemyakin made a joint performance at the Palace Square in St. Petersburg to celebrate the 300 th anniversary of the city, and in 2006 Orenzantsa a solo exhibition in the Marble Palace Russian Museum.

Moscow audience acquainted with the work Orenzantsa in 2004, when its exhibition was held at the State Museum of AS Pushkin. The project «gravity» in the Moscow museum of modern art anticipated speech at Yale University Choir in August 2008, during which the show documentaries on the works of Angel Orenzantsa.

«gravity» - this is an attempt to create an unreal space of sleep, in which all the exhibits and exhibition space set by the visual harmony and energy. The purpose of the artist - to create organic whole out of diverse materials and elements, stressing the combination and interaction. The simultaneous effect on different receptors - an important part of the artistic language Angel Orenzantsa, expressed in his painting, video and sculpture.

Project «gravity» consists of four elements on the different aspects of creativity Angel Orenzantsa and artistic actions in different countries around the world: it pictures, videos, performances and sculptures. The drawings are the starting point in the work of the artist. The exposition includes four large drawings of the New York series of the early 1990's and four other works made in Regensburg (Germany) in 2000. The exhibition will be shown three videos documenting performances Orenzantsa: «Final Account», «The Poetics of Speed» and «river». The third part of an exhibition presented colorful sculptures - a continuation of the series, developed in Palermo (Sicily), in conjunction with the supervisor, Professor Akille Bonita Olivier. In Angel Orenzantsa particular relevance to the symbolic date, it certainly reflects in his works. Learning that in Russia celebrate Old New Year, he decided to bring on 13 January in Moscow «tree» - installation specially created for the Moscow Museum of Modern Art.

The exhibition will be released colorful catalog, which includes texts by Alexander Borovsky, a well-known expert on creativity Orenzantsa, curator and director of the Division of Contemporary Art of the Russian Museum. Other authors of the catalog - Alexander Levitsky, professor of the University of Brown (Providence, Rhode Island), and Derek Bentley, the New York art critic who tracks the presence of Angel Orenzantsa on the Russian art scene since 1980 until today.

The exhibition is open from 13 January to 8 Feb, 2009.
