September 26, the new Metropolitan Gallery «KultProekt» an exhibition of the artist Yuri Cooper , which presents sketches of the metal to the opera of Georges Bizet «Carmen». Exhibition preceded the premiere of «Carmen» the Rostov State Musical Theater, which will be held October 16.

The artist confessed that while working on the production of not only perechel Merimee, but watched a lot of operas, «Carmen». «I was guided in its work by one principle - to make a design in the tradition of this opera, not the modern home of avant-garde compositions, retain and respect the original author», - he explained.

According to him, were «old luxury», and it was most important - «found between the proportion of their own ego, and the names of Bizet and Merimee».

«The thing is that now all the artists, producers pulled the blanket on themselves, express themselves through the staging of classics. But they have to such a degree of provincial, that fantasy is not enough, and the action is moved in the gym, in the hospital or police station. Yuri Cooper was born in Moscow in 1940, graduated from the art-graphic faculty MGPI Lenin. In 1969 joined the Union of Artists, in 1972, emigrated to Israel, where he moved to London. In 1983 he obtained British citizenship.

There are currently lives and works in France, the United States, Britain and Russia. In the artist more than 50 personal exhibitions in the most prestigious galleries in the world. Cooper - one of those rare people who manage, not among themselves to either of the currents of contemporary art, to exhibit the work everywhere: from the United States and Europe to China. His works were exhibited in famous museums - the Tretyakov Gallery, the Metropolitan Museum and the MoMA (Museum of Modern Art) in New York, as well as part of the largest private collections around the world.
