C 27 September to 19 October in the museums of St. Petersburg will host the international festival «Contemporary Art in Traditional Museum», which will see projects by artists from St Petersburg, Moscow, Nizhny Novgorod and the United States

International Festival «Contemporary Art in Traditional Museum» will take place from 27 September to 19 October in the museums of St. Petersburg, the city committee on culture. The basic idea behind the festival is to promote the convergence of traditional culture and modern art, the modernization of the activities of St. Petersburg museums, attracting the public to contemporary art.

At the opening ceremony of the festival will be shown a dance performance by Anna Abalihinoy. Then the audience will be invited to visit the museum of bread, a flat Brodsky Museum, Museum of metrology State Standard of Russian Federation, Kirov Apartment Museum, Central Museum of Soil Science Dokuchaeva name, home IRLI Pushkin Museum, Russian Academy of Sciences and the Museum of Urban Sculpture. At these sites visitors will see projects by artists from St Petersburg, Moscow, Nizhny Novgorod and the United States: «36/24/12», «Kolobok», Terra Incognita, «Radio», «In Memory of Timur Novikov», Volume, «Guide Audio».

This year the festival will be held for the eighth time. During previous years the festival was attended by 46 museums, among which Kunstkamera, Artillery Museum, the Museum of Printing Museum and the Block Museum - Submarine «Narodovolets-2», Museum of Experimental Medicine, and many others. The festival had been presented to projects of more than 100 artists from St. Petersburg, Moscow, Kaliningrad, Novosibirsk, Yekaterinburg, Nizhny Novgorod, Samara, as well as Germany, the United States, France, Great Britain, Sweden, Holland and Finland. It was created specifically for the museum and the festival 73 new art projects.

Traditionally, the opening days of the festival falls on a Saturday and Sunday. Organizers are providing these days free transportation route that runs between museums to anyone visiting the museums participating in the festival and see the artists had the opportunity to visit all exhibitions (admission to museums these days is free).
