Michael A. Trahman (1918-1976) was born in Moscow. In 1936 after graduation he began working at the studio newsreel and enrolled in courses in the specialty «assistant operator». Since 1938 served as photographers in «Teachers newspaper». In 1939 he was called into the army and participated in the Soviet-Finnish war.

He was shooting in the winter of 1941/1942 in blockaded Leningrad, worked in Pskov, in Byelorussia. He participated in the liberation of Poland and Hungary.
