2 September at the museum Vurhis Tsimmerli Jane (Jane Voorhees Zimmerli Museum) opened an exhibition of outstanding works of Spanish painter and engraver Francisco Goya (Francisco de Goya, 1746-1828). The exhibition, called «Dark Dreams: etchings of Francisco Goya», submitted 100 prints from two series: Kaprichos (Los Caprichos) and Disparates (Los Disparates). In addition, displays 12 works of Pablo Picasso (Pablo Picasso, 1881-1973), works Shagoya Enrique (Enrique Chagoya, 1953), and Yinka Shonibare (Yinka Shonibare, 1962), which demonstrates the impact of images of Goya in the generation of artists of XIX, XX and XXI century.

In Tsimmerli display first major series of etchings of Spanish masters - «Kaprichos» (1799), consisting of 80 sheets. This artist is clearly reflected the situation in Spain at the time, revealed the moral, political and spiritual ills people, rulers and the clergy. In addition, the cycle of Goya display their inner world, full of the most fantastic images: witches, ghosts, ghosts. A good model is the famous etching «Son of reason creates monsters», in which the artist has depicted himself surrounded by monsters, created his own fantasy.

Subject Kaprichos will be continued in another series of etchings - «Disparates», which was created by the author from 1816 to 1824, but was published after the artist's death in 1864 under the title «Proverbs». In addition to «Disparatos», in Tsimmerli presented later work «bullfighting arena in the split» in a series of lithographs «Bordeaux bulls».

One of the first editions of Goya etchings were granted for the exhibition of Arthur Ross Foundation (New York). The Foundation supports visual arts, heritage, and the collection of works of art in order to further their exposure to the public.

exhibition covering Marilyn Simms (Marilyn Symmes) and Christine Giviskos (Christine Giviskos) from the Research Center Morse (Morse Research Center) on schedule at the museum Tsimmerli. The exhibition will run until December 14, 2008.
