The Masterpieces of European masters from the collections of the Louvre in the next year will be exhibited in Japan. The Paris museum will provide for the display of some 70 canvases by masters of the XVII century, which is considered to be the «golden age» of European art. Residents and visitors to the Land of the Rising Sun will be able to see these paintings at the National Museum of Western Art in Tokyo and Kyoto Municipal Museum of Art. This is the biggest exhibition of its kind ever held in Japan.

August 27, Louvre director Henri Loretta (Henri Loyrette) and Executive Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Japanese corporation Nippon Network Television (NTV) Seitiro Udzie (Seichiro Ujiie) signed an agreement to hold the exhibition in celebration of 50 anniversary of the National Museum of Western Art and the 55 th anniversary of the corporation NTV.

Among the works that will be exhibited in Japan, called such famous paintings as «lace» Vermeer, «Self» Rembrandt, «The salvation of Moses» Nicolas Poussin and «Iksion king Lapite been tortured for the love of Juno »painted by Rubens.

exhibition entitled «The exhibition The Louvre Museum: European Masterpieces of the XVII century», from 28 February to 14 Jun., 2009 will be presented at the National Museum of Western Art in Tokyo, and from 30 June to 27 September, it can be viewed at the Art Museum of Kyoto.
