«Spring Russian avant-garde» in Japan
first time, Moscow Museum of Modern Art presents works from its collections for a large-scale exhibition in Japan. The project «Spring Russian avant-garde» will bring together 70 paintings and sculptures created by major artists of the early decades of the XX century. Among them, Kazimir Malevich, Natalia Goncharova, Mikhail Larionov, Pavel Filonov, Marc Chagall, Alexander Arkhipenko, Niko Pirosmani, and many others. The display will affect the key issues in the development of avant-garde 1910's - 1920s years, such as the influence of Western art, abstraction, neoprimitivizm.
During 2008-2009, works from the collection of the Moscow Museum of Modern Art will be shown in four exhibition venues in Japan:
- The Bunkamura Museum of Art, Tokyo (June 21 - August 17, 2008)
- Suntory Museum, Osaka (25 September - November 3, 2008)
- The Museum of Fine Arts, Gifu (November 11 - December 25, 2008)
- The Museum of Modern Art, Saitama (7 February - March 22, 2009)
