In Vienna, an exhibition of «bad picture - good art»

The Museum of Modern Art in Vienna, opened June 6 exhibition Bad Painting - Good Art ( «bad picture - good art»), on the phenomenon of «bad paintings». According to the curators of the project, making the poor in the canvases of high art began in the 1920's with Francis Picabia, Giorgio de Chirico and Rene Magritte, writes The Times.

In the preface to the exhibition curators point out that the term «low» in relation to the painting can be interpreted in different ways: it can be neglect of equipment, failure of the usual form, a picture ugly or attraction to kitsch. «Bad Art» was often protested against the old canons of art, in particular from the Georg Baselitz or Asgera Joern.

The exhibition presents works by Sigmar Polka, Martin Kippenbergera, Picabia, Jorn, and other artists.
