In the halls of the State Museum of AS Pushkin (Prechistenka, 12 /2) continues the first monographic exhibition of a talented artist and portrait of Alexander Pushkin's time Pavlovich Brullov.

For the first time in two centuries of such large-scale exhibition devoted to the anniversary of the artist gives the viewer a rare opportunity to see a significant part of the artistic heritage of AP Brullov, assess skill famous portraitist, his contribution to Russian art and culture.

Aleksandr Pavlovich Bryullov (1798-1877) - elder brother of famous painter Carl Brullov, a talented architect, a pioneer practitioner known as the author of many wonderful projects of buildings in St. Petersburg and its suburbs, one of the principal architects of «resumption Winter Palace »December after a fire in 1837. In his project was built the famous Pulkovo Observatory, a unique structure that brought the world famous architect. Over thirty years AP Bryullov gave the teaching in the Imperial Academy of Arts.

He was awarded the title of correspondent member of the Academy of Fine Arts in Paris, active member of the London Institute and the Royal Academy of Arts in Milan. In 1830, at home, was appointed court «architect of His Majesty».

A. Briullov entered the history of Russian art and a wonderful draftsman, watercolourist, landscape painter, lithographer, as one of the best portrait I half of the XIX century.

More than eighty works presented at the exhibition, make up most of the artistic heritage of AP Brullov, numbering only about 150 watercolors and graphic portraits avtolitografy and lithographs, executed by the original artist.

The exhibition presents works by the artist, kept in museums in fifteen countries, including the State Hermitage Museum, State Tretyakov Gallery, State Russian Museum, Pushkin Museum to them. Alexander Pushkin, museums Tula, Kostroma, Murom, Archangels, as well as in private collections in Moscow.

The exhibition will run until June 10, 2008.
