Painting by Nicholas Roerich Himalaya (estimate £250 000-300 000) was written in the last years of the artist's life, which he spent at his home in Kullu valley in the Western Himalayas (Himachal-Прадеш). Painting by Ivan Pohitonova "Landscape with hunters" (estimate £100 000-130 000), represented for the Russian bid, — a brilliant example of the rare abilities of the artist to depict in great detail the miniature scale of the scene. Pokhitonov was perhaps one of the most successful and original artists from among the emigrants, whose name for years was undeservedly forgotten in the homeland. His works are unique in that the small scale master has been amazingly accurate and accurately depict all the details of the composition, the slightest tonal gradation.
