on Russian Bonhams auction in London on June 5 exhibited Faberge cigarette case with imperial provenance. Empress Alexandra Fyodorovna gave it to Nicholas II 29 May 1897 on the occasion of the birth of their second daughter, Tatiana. Gold cigarette case decorated with purple enamel guilloche, is estimated at 150-200 thousand pounds.
cigarette was created by a master of Faberge Augustus Holstremom about 1897. After the October Revolution, a gift of Alexandra Feodorovna, along with other items from the collection of Nicholas II was nationalized. Cigarette case was transferred for storage to the Kremlin treasury, and at the end of the 1920s, probably allowed to sell it. In August 1931 some American former Affairs in Moscow, purchased the imperial cigarette case Torgsin - the association for trade with foreigners. To the lot at Bonhams include a copy of the original invoice for the purchase.
