Old Masters Week in New York: the top lots of the auction at Christie's

Pearls of five auctions that Christie's will hold during the week from 26 to 31 January 2013 in New York, will be the newly discovered masterpieces Bronzino, Botticelli and Carracci

From 26 to 31 January 2013 in New York will host a week of Old Masters Christie's, including three regular annual auction, as well as two additional sessions. Bidding will begin on January 29 at an auction called "Albrecht Durer - masterpieces from the private collection", in which the attention of collectors will be offered an impressive selection of lottery drawing of the famous artist. Painting Old Masters

Bidding dedicated Old Master paintings, will be held in two sessions, 30 and 31 January respectively. The attention of collectors will be offered a total of more than 150 works, including outstanding works of Annibale Carracci, Jean Simeon Chardin, Giovanni Paolo Panini and other renowned artists.

favorite auction is a painting by Jean Simeon Chardin called "Embroideress" (estimate 3-5 million dollars). Established around 1733, it is one of a series of early genre scenes of Chardin, a couple of her earlier work was "The young painter," written in the same period. Both paintings, exhibited at the Paris Salon in 1738, later became one of the most famous works of Chardin. Despite this, up to now it came only two 'Embroiderers' - one of the paintings is in the collection of the National Museum of Stockholm, and the other put up for auction. In this small but masterfully executed painting depicts a young maid able minute meditation - her eyes dreamily closed, and the hard work is briefly interrupted. Atmosphere going transmitted by the artist with the highest skill.

The catalog includes a newly discovered work of Annibale Carracci "The Annunciation" (estimate 1.5-2.5 million). Modestly dressed Mary knelt reading, while the angel Gabriel from his cloud indicates a ray of light falling from above. Basket with needlework, standing at the feet of Mary, is a reference to the years spent at the Temple, where she embroidered vestments priests. White lily in the hands of Gabriel symbolizes purity of Mary. Earlier scholars of the Carracci were aware of the "Annunciation" a black-and-white photography, but now they, like all others, can appreciate it in all its glory.

«View of the Piazza San Pietro in Rome" and "View of the Capitol in Rome" are two excellent veduta brush Giovanni Paolo Panini (2-3 and 3-5 million respectively). Both paintings, along with other works by Canaletto and Panini, were performed in 1750 by order of William Holbaek, plan to decorate his family estate of Farnborough Hall in Warwickshire. The pictures were inserted into the stationary alabaster frame specifically designed Perrittom William of York in the same year. This practice at the time was unusual for the UK. Rather, Holbaek learned about it during a trip to northern Italy, made in the early 1730s.

Auction "Revival»

January 30 in New York will host a separate auction Christie's called "Revival" dedicated European artistic tradition XIV - XVII centuries - a sort of culmination of weeks of the old masters. Will be put up for auction a selection of paintings, works on paper, tapestries, lottery drawing and majolica greatest masters of the era, who worked in Italy, Germany, the Netherlands and France. Undisputed favorite trades are masterpieces of Sandro Botticelli, Fra Bartolomeo, Bronzino and Lucas Cranach the Younger. In total, the attention of collectors will be presented 51 works. One of the gems of the auction is the "Portrait of a young man with a book" brush Florentine artist Agnolo Bronzino (12-18 million dollars).

January 31 auction "Art of Old Masters, including drawings ranneangliyskie and watercolors, "will be on display works from several private North American collections. All for sale will be offered 160 lots, including outstanding works by Parmigianino, Claude Lorrain, Francois Boucher, Jean Antoine Watteau, Gainsborough, Thomas, Theodore Gericault and Jean Auguste Dominique Ingres. Creativity of the latter will, in particular, presented a large-scale portrait called "The Countess Charles d'Agu (nee Maria de Flavin) and her daughter Claire d'Agu", made in 1849 (1.5-2.5 million).
