October 17 at the auction works of old masters of the Viennese auction house Dorotheum will brush landscape of Canaletto, "View of the building of the Royal Horse Guards." This work can be called one of the British in the career of the Venetian painter. The work is estimated at least 2 million pounds.

landscape with the building of the Royal Horse Guards in London was written by Giovanni Antonio Canal (Canaletto) during his stay in England from 1746 to 1755. At the time of arrival at the Albion in the artist was already a lot of fans and supporters among the English aristocracy - many brought to his work as a Venetian "souvenirs" from the mandatory aristocrats educational trips to Europe (grand rounds). Critics often say that Canaletto was looking at the British landscape through the eyes of the Venetian, and his works of this period, of which only about forty, not quite convey the spirit of the English. In this sense, the landscape with the building of the Royal Horse Guards favorably with his calm, diffused lighting, which was later so addicted national artists such as William Turner.

Many of the English Canaletto period are still preserved in the families for which they were originally written. Other paintings in the collection moved London's National Gallery, National Maritime Museum, and others. Canaletto twice appealed to the mind on the building of the Royal Horse Guards from St James' Park. In 1749 the artist depicted the old building of the Horse Guards shortly before its demolition. This is the first landscape at the time bought by Andrew Lloyd Weber for 9 million pounds. In the period between November 1752 and November of the first 1753rd Canaletto painted has a new building in Horse Guards during its construction. This work is proposed at the October auction Dorotheum. Estimate of its more modest than that of Weber's work from the collection, due to its smaller size. The work took part in the exhibition "Venetian artist abroad", held in 2006 at London's Dulwich Picture Gallery and Yale Center for British Art in New Haven (Connecticut).
