Christie's won the Middle East

4 August auction house reported that sales in the first semester of 2010 increased compared to the same period last year, by 46%. For the six months Christie's managed to gain in trading art and antiques 1.71 billion pounds sterling (2.73 billion dollars), while a year earlier, the result amounted to 1,2 billion pounds sterling (In counting the Commission buyer).
Pilkkanen notes that the economic crisis the art market behaves paradoxically. According to him, the value of the works of artists such as Pablo Picasso and Alberto Giacometti, over the past four years has grown by 200%.
