last week auction house Phillips de Pury arranged the sale of the collection of Nina Abrams (Nina Abrams), wife of the publisher of books about art Harry N. Abrams (Harry N. Abrams). Bidding lasted seven and a half hours. Almost all the lots (which was presented much as 318 pieces) found new owners. The auction brought $ 6 million, while the estimate of 2.2–3.3 million. A large portion of the proceeds will go to various charities.
Phillips specially made low labor preliminary estimates. So nobody was surprised that the works one after the other overtook their estimate. The collection of spouses Abrams was going for decades; significant part of it consists of works purchased from the authors or donated by them, so a peculiar feature of the collection can be considered an abundance of author's inscriptions, addressed to the Abrams.

Among other successful lots — self-portrait drawing by Alberto Giacometti (Alberto Giacometti), which brought 254,5 thousand in the estimeyte 20-30 thousand, and a wooden sculpture by Robert Morris (Robert Morris), who left for 104.5 thousand in the evaluation of 20-30 thousand. But the most fortunate group of seven photos Indian artist M. F. Husain (M. F. Husain), which in the course of trading rose in price by more than 100 times (!). Specialists Phillips expected that work will go for 400-600 dollars, and the buyer laid out for them 50 thousand.
