Corporation Polaroid, which declared itself bankrupt on Dec. 19, 2008, is going to sell his collection of photos. This extensive collection includes more than 60 thousand images, which include works by such renowned authors as Henzel Adams (Ansel Adams), William Wegman (William Wegman) and Chuck Close (Chuck Close).
In April this year, Polaroid had sold most of its assets to two investment funds - Hilco Consumer Capital and Gordon Brothers Brands - for 87,6 million dollars, but a collection of photos in their number is not entered. Polaroid is now applied to the U.S. Court of Bankruptcy in Minneapolis for permission to hire auction house Sotheby's for the organization of public tenders, as well as, perhaps, and private sales. Representatives of the Polaroid said that investors, various organizations and individual customers are already interested in their collection, and expressed the hope that with the help of Sotheby's they will be able to gain some money for creditors of the company.
Formation Polaroid photo collection began in the late 1940's, when company founder Edwin Land (Edwin H. Land) created the first camera, pretending ready image immediately after shooting. The company encourages artists to use this new medium of expression, as a result helped to make Polaroid widely known brand. For many years, this collection was used to support the Polaroid brand worldwide. We have pictures stored in Boston and at Le Musée de l'Elysée (Lausanne, Switzerland).
