The most expensive work of Chinese art
On Friday 26 June was another record for Chinese art - a landscape by an artist Zhu Da (Zhu Da, 1626-1705), was sold at auction Beijing Council for the 84 million yuan (12.3 million dollars). This is the largest sum ever paid for a work of Chinese painting. The result was quite unexpected: in the course of the trading value of the painting has increased almost eight-fold. The work bought private collector who wished to remain anonymous.
The previous record belonged «Scrolls Red cliff» Work painter Ina Qiu (Qiu Ying, 1494-1552), in November 2007, bought for 79.52 million yuan (10.7 million dollars) at auction China Guardian. «Roll» became the first Chinese painting whose price crossed the mark of 10 million dollars.
Zhu Da, also known as Bada Shanzhen (Bada Shanren), considered one of the greatest Chinese painters and calligraphers. The artist was a descendant of the imperial dynasty of Ming, after the fall of which in 1644 left the monastery, where he held nearly 30 years. After leaving the monastery, he left to wander.
Zhu Da is a list of the ten most famous of classical Chinese culture, compiled by UNESCO.
